How much would a 9 dollar movie ticket cost with tax?
i wanna go see eclipse tonight, anyone know what the tax would be on a 9 dollar ticket?
What state do you live in?
Mulitply the $9 by your states tax rate.
For example, in Michigan the sales tax is 6%.
9×6=54
Therefore the total would be $9.54.
Every state has a different tax rate.
It is safe to assume that your total with tax will not be more than $10.
I hope this helped.
Enjoy the movie – I am going to see grown ups!

Liza Minnelli is Linda Marolla, the actress/waitress who catches our hero’s eye and heart. And in his Academy Award-winning performance as acerbic manservant Hobson, Sir John Gielgud steals the show. Ben Franklin $24.95 Inventor, writer, businessman, scientist, diplomat, and the face gracing the hundred-dollar bill–this stately figure is the Benjamin Franklin history has taught us to remember. Now, in this revealing yet informal History Channel presentation, the real man behind the myth is finally brought to light. By his own admission, the man who negotiated an alliance with France, helped write the Declaration of Independence and was the first to tame lightning was far from perfect. A self-promoter and occasionally ruthless competitor, this Founding Father never made a penny from his achievements and was more comfortable speaking in front of the British Parliament than he was being with his own family. Narrated in an easy, conversational tone by Edward Herrmann (Intolerable Cruelty, The Practice), Ben Franklin features in-depth interviews with renowned biographers and historians, as well as reenactments shot in High-Definition video on locations in Philadelphia–a truly remarkable virtual walk in Franklin’s footsteps. Available on DVD for the first time, Ben Franklin is a fresh, down-to-earth, informative look at one of America’s most essential human monuments. |

Catholics in the Movies $25 Catholicism was all over movie screens in 2004. Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ was at the center of a media firestorm for months. A priest was a crucial character in the Academy Award-winning Million Dollar Baby. Everyone, it seemed, was talking about how religious stories should be represented, marketed, and received. Catholic characters, spaces, and rituals have been stock features in popular films since the silent era. An intensely visual religion with a well-defined ritual and authority system, Catholicism lends itself to the drama and pageantry of film. Moviegoers watch as Catholic visionaries interact with the supernatural, priests counsel their flocks, reformers fight for social justice, and bishops wield authoritarian power. Rather than being marginal to American popular culture, Catholic people, places, and rituals are all central to the world of the movie.Catholics in the Movies begins with an introductory essay that orients readers to the ways that films appear in culture and describes the broad trends that can be seen in the movies’ hundred-year history of representing Catholics. Each chapter is written by a noted scholar of American religion who concentrates on one movie engaging important historical, artistic, and religious issues. Each then places the film within American cultural and social history, discusses the film as an expression of Catholic concerns of the period, and relates the film to others of its genre. Tracing the story of American Catholic history through popular films, Catholics in the Movies should be a valuable resource for anyone interested in American Catholicism and religion and film. |

Cinemas and Movie Theaters in the United States: Nickelodeon, Movie Palace, National Association of Theatre Owners, Grindhouse $8.96 Purchase includes free access to book updates online and a free trial membership in the publisher’s book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Chapters: Nickelodeon, Movie Palace, National Association of Theatre Owners, Grindhouse, Discount Theater, Gene Siskel Film Center. Excerpt: A movie palace (or picture palace in the UK) is a term used to refer to the large, elaborately decorated movie theaters built between the 1910s and the 1940s. The late 1920s saw the peak of the movie palace, with hundreds opened every year between 1925 and 1930. There are three building types in particular which can be subsumed under the label movie palace. First, the classical style movie palace, with its eclectic and luxurious period-revival architecture; second, the atmospheric theatre which has an auditorium ceiling that resembles an open sky as its defining feature and finally, the Art Deco theaters that became popular in the 1930s. Grand vaudeville theatres began to show motion pictures in the early 20th century, but the development of the feature film led to the development of dedicated movie theatres. The Mark Strand Theater in New York City, opened in 1913 by Mitchell Mark at the cost of one-million dollars, is usually cited as the first movie palace of the United States, and its success in drawing the upper middle class to the movies spurred others to follow suit. Many movie palace architects, like studio heads, were often first generation Americans, notably the Romanian-born John Eberson and Scottish Thomas W. Lamb. Other pioneers include the Chicago firm of Rapp and Rapp, which designed the Chicago, the Uptown, and the Oriental Theatres; the impresario S.L. “Roxy” Rothafel, originator of the deluxe presentation of films with themed stage shows; and Sid Grauman, who built the first movie palace on the West Coast, Los Angeles’ Million Dollar Theater, in 1918. As their name implies, movie palaces, like … More: |

But what begins as a temporary alliance leads to a lengthy battle for both men to save their reputations, and much, much more. As they soon find out, Corporate America will use all legal means at its disposal to save a billion-dollar-a-year habit. And as the corporate giants soon find out, Bergman and Wigand are honorable men, driven to smoke out the evidence. Also starring Christopher Plummer (Malcolm X) as anchor Mike Wallace and Gina Gershon (Face/Off), The Insider will chill you with its cold, hard edge — and thrill you with its unbelievable twists and turns. |

End of Real $1.99 End of Real, by artist Itai Doron, is a photographic diary of the places he visited whilst preparing exhibitions in different parts of the world during the 1990s. The photographs – or “postcards” as Doron describes them – were taken using a 15-dollar camera he picked up from Woolworths in Los Angeles, and they document the artist’s fascination with the dream-like world of fame, legends and celebrity. Through seven stories from three countries, each made personal by Doron’s introductions, we are invited to visit places where fiction meets reality: the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, the fatal route James Dean took to Salinas, an Elvis impersonators contest in Tel Aviv, the famous Shepperton film studios in London, and the graves of countless film stars and modernday heroines from Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich to Princess Diana. Designed by Intro and with a forward by Nicolas Roeg, cinematographer and director of cult masterpieces such as Don’t Look Now and Performance, End of Real is Doron’s first project in book form. After a childhood filled with visits to the movies and with stories told to him by his mother about its stars, Itai Doron’s work is strongly influenced by cinema. Having worked as a visual artist using media as varied as photographs, photo-collages, video and audio-visual installations, in 2004 he wrote and directed his first short feature film, The Trouble with Thomas Cruise, starring horror movie legend Linda Hayden. |

Espn Films 30 For 30:King’s Ransom $14.95 On August 9, 1988, the NHL was forever changed with the single stroke of a pen. The Edmonton Oilers, fresh off their fourth Stanley Cup victory in five years, signed a deal and exported Wayne Gretzky, a Canadian national treasure and the greatest hockey player ever to play the game, to the Los Angeles Kings in a multi-player, multi-million dollar deal.? As bewildered Oiler fans struggled to make sense of the unthinkable, fans in Los Angeles were rushing to purchase season tickets at a rate so fast it overwhelmed the Kings box office.? Overnight, a franchise largely overlooked in its 21-year existence was suddenly playing to sellout crowds and standing ovations, and a league often relegated to ?little brother? status exploded from 21 teams to 30 in less than a decade. Acclaimed director Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, The Kingdom) presents the captivating story of the trade that knocked the wind out of an entire country, and placed a star-studded city right at the humble feet of a 27-year-old kid, known simply as ?The Great One.?? Bonus features include deleted scenes and director’s statements. Run Time ? 52 Minutes |

Faith and Film $20 Growing numbers of church leaders are discovering that many films are able to impact viewers with gospel truths almost as well as a good sermon. Ed McNulty, a former pastor and longtime reviewer of films, offers this guide to help church leaders enter into dialogue with contemporary films. McNulty carefully crafts a theology of movies and then provides practical suggestions for creating and leading movie discussions with groups. In addition, he provides people from all across the theological spectrum with a framework to understand whether the overall message of a film outweighs concerns over profanity, violence, or sex in the film. He concludes by introducing twenty-seven films and including provocative questions about each that will prepare leaders to assemble and facilitate a group.Popular films explored include The Color Purple ; Crash ; Hotel Rwanda ; The Matrix ; Million Dollar Baby ; O Brother, Where Art Thou? and The Shawshank Redemption. |
